The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.

Digital Channels Reaction

Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Accounts

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
